Hey - thanks for stopping by my site! My name is Beatrice and I live in California with my husband, son and youngest brother. We have lived here since April of 2003. I'm originally from Texas and, except for a younger brother who lives in Los Angeles, my entire family still lives there.
My Family ~ Christmas 2007

My husband and I have moved around quite a bit with his job. We started in Texas then moved to Washington, Kansas , Montreal (Quebec, Canada), Indiana and FINALLY to California. It's not a bad place to end up. The sun always shines and it's never humid (I'm from Texas remember).

Jp and Me ~ Christmas 2005

In Montreal I stumbled upon a hobby of making jewlery. It started out just as presents for friends and family but quickly became an obsession with beads. I'd sit for hours late at night looking at beads. One type of bead that just fascinated me was this "lampwork" bead. I had no idea how they were made but soon realized that's the only type of bead I wanted to work with.  Mainly because of the color and detail. I purchased a few here and there and decided that I would save money if I just made them myself. So that's how I came upon making lampwork beads. I took my first and only class when we moved to South Bend with Cindy Jenkins at a Michigan Glass School. I knew I was hooked the moment I turned on the torch. I bought all the supplies I needed to get started and have been lampworking since. It's truly a passion.

Mom and Me ~ Summer 2005

I've been consistently making beads since that class but was reluctant to sell them online until we moved to California. That happened when I I met a talented lampworker named Jenn Kelly. We created a fun little partnership together called Hollister Hot Heads. Check out that tab to the left to learn more about our story and work together. After about a year on eBay Jenn and I decided the natural progression was to launch a website - which brings me here with you! Jenn also launched her own website called CaliGirl Art Glass.

My Entire Family; Mom,Dad,Sibs,Sibs' Spouses,Nephew & Nieces ~ Summer 2004

My inspiration comes from many places. I LOVE bright colors and you'll tend to find most of my beads are colorful. I'm most inspired by the work of Corina Tettinger of Corinabeads.com. Between Corina's book, Passing the Flame, her Spotlights On, and my own collection of her beads, I'm continually amazed by her originality.

I'm happy to say this website is a dream realized. I want to thank my brother, Patrick, for motivating me to get my "friedpeas" name registered years before I actually started my site; my mother for being one of my biggest fans and jingling my many bracelets in front of anyone who is willing, or not, to appear interested; my fantastic husband for encouraging me to work on my website and support my habit; Alex Pappadakis of Pappashop.com for making this SO easy to do; and to my many friends and family who have worn and purchased my many little creations and are always interested to see what I'm up to.

I hope you find something here that makes you smile.
Thank you for your interest in my work,

Beatrice
